Old-School Carp Fishing – Patience Pays Off 🎣

Old-School Carp Fishing – Patience Pays Off 🎣

This carp session was definitely a tough one, but sometimes the most difficult sessions turn into the most memorable.

It took almost two and a half days before the first signs of activity appeared. Finally, a bream showed up and started nibbling at the bait. That might not have been the target species, but at least it meant that something was happening on the spot.

After such a long wait, even a few small bites can give you new confidence.

The First Carp Run

The following day things started to improve. Suddenly one of the rods went off with a proper run. After the fight, I landed a beautiful carp of around 8 kilograms. I was extremely proud of that fish.

During the session we also had several moments where bream kept nibbling at the bait, which made us laugh a bit. But honestly, even that is better than sitting there without a single bite.

Thinking About the Strategy

Later that evening I started thinking about what might be going wrong. I was fishing with the same boilies that were also used as feed on the water, but somehow the carp didn’t seem to respond much at first.

Then it slowly became clear: the fish simply hadn’t arrived on the spot yet.

Sometimes the carp just need time to move into the area.

The Reward

On Wednesday morning I refreshed the rods with new bait and carefully placed them back on the spot.

Then in the early afternoon, it finally happened.

One of the rods went off and after the strike the fish initially managed to get itself slightly wedged. Luckily, by keeping gentle tension on the rod, the carp slowly started to swim again.

That gave me the chance to guide it toward the net.

And there it was — a beautiful carp in the net.

At that moment I felt incredibly proud. After days of patience, waiting and doubting, the reward finally came.

Sometimes that’s exactly what carp fishing is about: patience, persistence, and believing that the next run can come at any moment. 🎣
