Hey Friends,
Lately, I've received numerous messages from both my inbox and clients, all curious about my content creation process. As we step into a new month, I thought it would be the perfect time to outline my approach. My goal is to empower you to not only create content but also to think more strategically about it. After all, productivity is the name of the game.
Let's dive into my process and hopefully, it will inspire you as you navigate the world of content marketing, where it's about more than just posting – it's about making an impact!
The Illusion of the Superhuman Entrepreneur
But before we jump in, let's talk about a myth that's been floating around in the entrepreneurial world. You know the one – the superhuman entrepreneur who seems to have it all together, 24/7. They never stumble, never second-guess, and never ask for help. Well, guess what? That's as real as a unicorn in your backyard.
The truth is, that content creation and content marketing are two different beasts. Content creation is like crafting individual puzzle pieces, while content marketing is the art of assembling those pieces to create a captivating and coherent picture that resonates with your audience and drives your business goals. So, while I'm sharing my content creation process here, it's just one part of the larger content marketing puzzle, where each piece plays a crucial role in achieving success.
🛠️ Tools I Use:
Canva
Google Sheets
Content Calendars
Chat GPT (No shame in my game) I'll tell you why and how further down!
💡 Here's How I Do It:
Step 1: Brainstorming Themes and Topics
Before I dive into content creation, I take some time to brainstorm themes and topics that align with my niche and resonate with my audience. This step is all about identifying subjects that are not only relevant but also engaging.
Step 2: Defining Learning Objectives
Once I've settled on a topic, I define the learning objectives for that content piece. What do I want my audience to gain from it? What knowledge or skills should they acquire? This step helps me ensure that my content is not just informative but also provides actionable takeaways.
Step 3: Content Planning and Calendar
Next, I turn to my content planning tools, including content calendars and prompts. I review my calendar to see what's coming up and any special dates or events that might tie into my chosen topic.
Step 4: Organizing Content Buckets
To maintain variety and engagement in my content, I organize it into buckets. These buckets help me categorize my content and maintain a balanced mix. I focus on 3 buckets "Motivation," "Visibility," and "Presence." Each bucket serves a specific purpose, allowing me to address different aspects of the overarching topic. This step helps me keep my content strategy well-rounded. Sometimes I add in the Entertainment bucket also!
Step 5: Content Creation
With the groundwork laid, it's time to roll up my sleeves and start creating content. I turn to my trusted design tool, Canva, and access my pre-made templates. Working on one content bucket at a time, I craft visually appealing graphics and layouts that complement the message I want to convey.
Step 6: Crafting Captivating Captions
Once the visuals are in place, I shift my focus to crafting captions. I ensure that my captions are concise, impactful, and aligned with the learning objectives set earlier. These captions serve as the voice of my content, conveying the key messages and encouraging engagement. Remember that your content should focus on the what and the folks typically pay for the HOW! But don't skimp, don't be too basic. They should not be able to google what you offer.
Step 7: Scheduling for Release
With both visuals and captions ready, the final step is scheduling the content for release. I use scheduling tools to plan when each piece of content will go live. This step ensures a consistent posting schedule, which is crucial for maintaining audience engagement. I use Cinchshare. I've been using it for a long time and I love it!
By following these seven steps, I aim to create content that not only informs but also resonates with my audience, ultimately driving meaningful engagement and value. Remember, it's not just about the content you create; it's about the impact it has on your audience. So, let's keep crafting purposeful and impactful content together!
