🎶 Hey there, Music Makers! Let’s Get Real. 🎶
Hey, it’s Theo here! Your guide through the wild, unpredictable, and often exhilarating ride that is the modern music industry. Welcome back to The Media Composer Vault! This is where I share everything I’ve picked up over nearly a decade—from game-changing plugins and insider business tips to, yep, you guessed it… books.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Books? Really? How’s that going to help me?” But hear me out. The right book can do more than just fill your bookshelf—it can change the way you think, shift your perspective, and even light a fire under you to take charge of your career. I’ve previously spoken about my experience and honest thoughts reading ‘The War of Art’ by Steven Pressfield and ‘Cant’t Hurt Me’ by David Goggins. Be sure to read what I thought about them because I know you’re going to benefit from them! You can read my reviews on them here and here.
This week, I’m talking about Man Up by Bedros Keuilian. This isn’t just a book; it’s a wake-up call. It’s about owning your decisions, taking control of your life, and learning to lead—not just in business, but in every aspect of what you do. And let’s be real: as composers, we’re not just making music. We’re running our own show, juggling creativity with deadlines, clients, and self-doubt.
What’s in it for you?
• You’ll learn how to stop procrastinating and start executing.
• You’ll discover practical ways to manage your time, set boundaries, and build the discipline needed to reach your goals.
• Most importantly, you’ll walk away feeling empowered to take control of your music career—and your life—with clarity and purpose.
This book changed the way I approach not only my work but how I show up every day. If you’re ready to stop making excuses and start making progress, this is the book for you.

Lead Yourself: What is Man Up by Bedros Keuilian Really About?
So, what’s Man Up really about? If I had to sum it up in one sentence, it would be this:
👉 “In order to lead others, you first need to lead yourself.”
That’s it. That’s the backbone of the entire book. But what does that actually mean? Let me break it down.
If you want to be a great leader in your career, business, or any part of life, you first have to master leading yourself. You can’t expect the best from others if you’re not holding yourself to the same standard. Strong leaders don’t just tell people what to do—they lead by example. People follow those who inspire them, not those who demand respect but don’t put in the work themselves.
It’s like that classic airplane self-care analogy: put your own oxygen mask on first before helping others. That doesn’t mean being selfish—it means that if you want to truly help and inspire others, you need to fix your own life first. Strength starts from within.
There are plenty of incredible lessons in this book, but this, for me, is its core message. Man Up is all about mastering discipline, accountability, and resilience—both in business and in life. It teaches you the core values of pushing yourself to be the best version of you.
And trust me, some of the passages in this book hit hard. Let me share a few of my favourites to show you just how powerful this book can be…
