Every car is unique same as the Hyundai Elantra yet the longevity of the engine and the overall performance depend on these three (3) factors:
1. User
2. Mechanic
3. Location

With many years of experience in the Automotive industry especially in Hyundai and Kia cars, the above factors are what you must consider when concluding to "What Hyundai Elantra years to avoid".
Research and experience show that Hyundai Elantra 2011 - 2016 have a common Engine Knocking (Noise) over some time. On the other hand, other users of the same year models are praising the vehicle for its performance. WHY?
The USER:
I am not saying you should attend vehicle maintenance classes before you know the basics of your vehicle. Like your body, you signal naturally if something is wrong within you. To best enjoy your Elantra or Hyundai cars in general, do not bypass these things;
Oil Service: You've overheard this uncountable as a car user, yet it is a bit different with Hyundai. Hyundai cars are so special in such a way that if you drive over a "dirty" engine oil for some time, the engine will lock or seize at any point in time without your appointment, very easily, I mean! This is a result of impurities entering the oil pump that distributes oil to every part of the engine for smooth running. You may think this is what happens if your pipeline is shocked. In addition to your simple but crucial work as the user, check under your vehicle, especially in the morning, if there is a coolant (water) drop after you start the engine. This will help you avoid engine overheating, and I believe the consequences of car overheating. Another way you can easily stop the sign of overheating on the road and stop suddenly is to keep an eye on the temperature sign on the dashboard; once it goes above half (the middle line), just park immediately. Finally don't forget the service of the gearbox as well. Many car owners have no idea that the transmission has a separate oil for easy shifting.
Your MECHANIC:
If you need a special surgery, would you attend to a general doctor or specialist in that particular surgery? Who services your Hyundai Vehicle for you? A general mechanic or specialist in Hyundai cars? If you need someone to handle an important service that goes beyond the basics I mentioned in the first paragraph, then an expert is what you should look for. I don't know WHY some car owners keep on roaming from mechanic to technician if I may say. What I am saying is, have one mechanic specialist that handles your vehicle because every technician has a different way of solving their problems. I know what I am talking about. Many cars have been towed to our shop and if you see the work done by the technician, no one needs to tell you that he has no experience in that vehicle.
The LOCATION:
Many are asking if the Hyundai Elantra can be used in snow, well, I have no idea but if you noticed differences in your Hyundai car based on geographical location, you share with us in the review or comment below. In my location, we have issues against the weather concerning Hyundai cars everything works perfectly once you comply with the service guidelines.
All cars are special yet it depends on how you handle it.
