Travel with pets - import-/export regulations
Here you find the offiial links to the mentioned countries about the regulations to travel with a pet. Keep in mind: Check these links in time!! If you need bloodtests it will take at least 3 months to get everything ready (FAVN for example). If you need to re-new the vaccinations before the bloodsample can be taken even more.
Basic overview about what you need for crossing borders with a pet:
- your pet must be marked (microchip)
- animal identification document (passport or certificate)
- vaccination against rabies
- depending of country rules: anti-rabies antibody titration test (FAVN)
(For EU countries: If you do the test outside the European Union it will take 3 months after the test to be allowed to enter Europe again. This "waiting time" can be avoided if you do the test at home/inside the EU.
- for some countries additional bloodtests
- for some countries additional treatments (i.e. tapeworm)
- take care about regulations of dangerous dog breeds
With all these papers you normally need to go to a vet to get an actual health certification and with this health certification you can apply for export papers from the official office if needed.
- depending from where you were coming: defined points of entry
- max. 5 animals per persons
- in case you are flying: check airline guidelines and take care about restrictions of brachycephalic breeds. Dangerous dog breeds have special requirements, too.
