2.5 Million Floridians Without Power/ Cuba Electrical Power Being Restored and Twenty Missing/Hundreds Dead in Florida?

In wake of Hurricane Ian, 2.5 million people in Florida are without power this morning. Joe Biden has declared the state of Florida a disaster area. He has ordered federal aid and local cleanup ai to be carried out through federal disaster monies in relief of Hurricane Ian (NBC, 2022).

Lee County Sheriff in Florida believes there could be hundreds dead, Search and rescue has begun but a confirmed number of dead has not been confirmed. Thousands are still needing to be rescued at this point and until that is done there is no way they can come up with a number of the dead as rescue is the main priority (Silva, 2022).

Cuba has begun restoring power to the island that in the wake of Hurricane Ian saw its power grid fail. However, some power has been restored to Cuba but the number of how many persons who have power has not been accounted for at this time. Also, in Cuba news, Hurricane Ian sunk a Cuban boat just off the coast of the Florida Keys before it made landfall near Naples Florida. The Cubans lost their boat but did not lose their lives as Homeland Security Border Patrol found them on Stock Island. Later on, Homeland Security Border Patrol found three more Cuans from the sunken ship but 20 others are missing that were on the boat (NBC, 2022). It is highly likely that the other 20 will be considered fatalities and drowned in Hurricane Ian's deadly waves which could have reached thirty to sixty feet in open waters.
