The use of chemical fertilizer on soil increases the pH level of acidity. Fertilizer also increases nitrogen which helps plants grow. There are many different chemical fertilizer types such as phosphate, nitrogen, and potassium. These types of fertilizers increase nitrogen and other properties that if used too much can alter the organic properties of soil. If they are overused can produce pollution of water, air, and soil bringing environmental harm. Using chemical fertilizers alone can weaken the organic structure of soil
health (Pahalvi, H., Rashid, S., Majeed, L., Nisar, B.. Kamili, A., 2021).
The removal of native ecology through organisms that live in the soil and topsoil removal itself will weaken the soil’s ability to be fertile. Once organisms and native vegetation are removed the soil itself is hard to forego any rehabilitation. However, it is possible to use hay and grasslands to rebuild a new type of vegetation as was discussed in Germany in the article that was referenced. However, it would not be the original structure that was once a thriving ecology once the removal of the native ecology has taken place. Take for example rural areas of fertile land and now a real estate company buys it and produces homes. The native ecology is removed. Now let us say that the homes are torn down years later and one tries to build that same ecology that was once before. The land is no longer fertile because of pollution brought forth by the homes and human pollution brought forth. This indicates that once native ecology has been disturbed it is hard to get that fertility back as nature once intended (L. Rasran, K., Vogt., and K. Jensen, 2007).
Carbon in the subsurface soils when tilled will be transferred into the atmosphere similar to dust in an inflow before tornado development. This increases the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere through the uncovering of these subsurface soils releasing carbon dioxide gas. Also, chemical fertilizer (nitrogen) in the subsurface is tilled or worked about by cattle before severe storms can be released into the atmosphere through inflow winds. This was most likely the case just before the El Reno Oklahoma tornado and helped it increase in size and stature. The storm had a chaotic path of speeding up and decreasing in speed and strength. Its width would become wide and narrow. As the inflow of the storm passed over the pastures where chemical fertilizer had been used in overabundance the storm would intensify and then decrease as it used up the fuel developed by chemical fertilizer (Adams, 2021).
