Near One Million Without Power in Florida and 47 Dead from Ian/Cuba Asks for USA Help After Hurricane Ian

It has been four days since Hurricane Ian destroyed parts of Florida. However, 800,000 people continue to be without electricity and 47 people have been confirmed dead in Florida. Florida Power & Light said that the power over all of Florida would be restored in a matter of days. The African American and Latino section of Dunbar in Fort Myers says that electric companies always turn their power on last. Gov. DeSantis said that evacuation orders were given at the amount of time they were given to them. The hurricane shifted east quickly and was supposed to landfall further north toward Tampa Bay. This gave them little time to react to evacuations.

The country of Cuba has asked the United States for help with its damaged electrical grid after Hurricane Ian slammed their island. Although there are sanctions on Cuba from the United States there has been some communication about the USA helping their neighbor.
