I merged with the talon of a hawk.
You merged with the prayers a fox kept before winter.
Dusk emptied me of the hope that gave a dove flight.
You ascended out of my corpse.
I was the ghost heaven asked to forget.
⋯⋯⋯
I thought for so long that dying in your love,
for how we hated me,
was what would deliver me into bone and fading memories.
But the soul asks,
will you let this be why we didn’t?
Courage finds itself like a dragon
scorching heaven
to reclaim the fire the moon first fell in love with.
I’m grateful I braided myself
in the hues of indigo skies
drenching me in blues
that aren’t so sad anymore.
