I was browsing the Facebook market place as I often do, just seeing what things of interest I can find. YES My wife is actually the sensible one who isn't looking for ways to spend money every day, I'm the complete opposite, always looking for new shiny things or old shiny things. Whether it is new tools , mostly tools or projects ect.
I happened to come across a floor standing loom, not a huge amount of detail but a few pics to go off and it was clearly an old loom and piqued my interest, the fact it said free, not only is that my favourite price but I had just had to know more, is this correct?
The lovely lady responded promptly and said yes it is free, it's been sitting in the shed for many years and was bought as a project to fix up.
Well for me this was perfect another project to add to my ever growing lists of projects. Not saying I have a problem but being addicted to finding new interesting projects and having lots on the go is a thing right?
Any rate i got my fingers twitching, and I was already thinking about building one. So, having one to repair or refurb was a good start and just sometimes to figure out how it all works.
Well, that basically sums up my interests. I collect projects and hobbies for a hobby to see how it works.
Getting back to the point, I had been considering building a loom, I have previously made a sprang and half sized warp weighted loom for family and freinds. Which has quickly got me hooked on weaving and here I am, gath even if I just got a template out of it. So here I am in quick succession I have acquired a fixed heddle loom and a louet electric spinning wheel and now this Dryad floor standing loom as a renovation project and I'm sure in time much more.. just call me plain crazy.
So now I have this large loom and all the family are asking where is it going.. sensible questions of course and I'm like, well does it matter, right now it's going to my shed to get restored of course. Where I set it up after that's another day's problem.
Anyway as part of this restoration project I thought maybe it would be good to start a blog on the progress of this project as I work on it, maybe it will help encourage me to keep a regular rate of progress as I work on the loom and not just become another of my many well intentioned projects sitting in a corner waiting to be finished. Sometimes I just keep myself too busy.
I look forward to sharing more on its progress and other projects as I work on them and hope everyone enjoys following it. If you do please follow my various social media links which I will add on a covienient page asap where I show what I'm working on, work I have made and finished and bits I have for sale as I do like to sell items I've made to fund for my ever growing list of hobbies I collect.
Thankyou and I look forward to hearing thoughts and comments from all those that follow me.
All the best, Wolfie 🐺
