Shockingly Fun Activities for Ladies' Church Groups
1. “Faith That Holds” – Paper Towel & Paper Clip Challenge
Materials: Paper towels, water, paper clips, small bowl
How to Play:
Give each group or individual a square of paper towel, 5 paper clips, and a small bowl of water. Instruct them to build a "raft" or platform using the paper towel and clips that can hold as many paper clips as possible without sinking when placed in the water.
Debrief:
Discuss how our faith must be built on the right foundation to hold under pressure.
Use Matthew 7:24–27 (The wise and foolish builders) to connect the lesson to relying on God as our foundation.
2. “Build One Another Up” Tower
Materials: Plastic or paper cups, beans, tape
How to Play:
Each team is given 10–15 cups, tape, and dry beans. Their goal is to build the tallest free-standing structure using only those items in 3 minutes.
Debrief:
Discuss how community and support help us build stronger lives of faith. Read 1 Thessalonians 5:11 — “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up.” Talk about the importance of uplifting others.
3. “Broken, But Still Useful” Reflection
Materials: Paper plates, markers, tape
How to Play:
Give each woman a paper plate and have them write or draw a moment in life when they felt “broken.” Then instruct them to gently break the plate (or tear it) into 3–4 large pieces. After that, they will tape it back together and write on the back how God helped them heal or what they learned from it.
Debrief:
Talk about God’s ability to restore and redeem. Use Isaiah 61:3 — “...to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes...” as the spiritual tie-in.
4. “Spiritual Gifts in Motion” Bean Sort
Materials: Beans (multiple types), paper plates, markers
How to Play:
Spread mixed dry beans on a large plate or table. Each woman has 30 seconds to sort as many beans into matching piles as possible using only one hand. Then, assign each bean type a spiritual gift (e.g., black beans = encouragement, pinto beans = leadership).
Debrief:
Tie into 1 Corinthians 12:4–6 and discuss how each gift is unique, just like each bean. No one gift is more important than the other—they’re all part of the body of Christ.
5. “Write the Vision” Prayer Wall
Materials: Writing paper, tape, markers, a large blank wall or door
How to Play:
Invite women to write down one vision or prayer for their life or their ministry on a piece of paper. Then they will tape it to a designated wall or door.
Debrief:
Use Habakkuk 2:2 — “Write the vision and make it plain...” to talk about the importance of being intentional in prayer and spiritual direction. Encourage participants to pray over each other's vision cards.
How about some fun guessing game activities?
These are similar to what you will find in my book Fun Activities for Ladies' Church Groups. Each one encourages laughter, bonding, and lighthearted fellowship while honoring the purpose of a women’s ministry gathering.
Bible memory - FUN activities for ladies' church groups (more below)
1. “Bible Who Am I?” – Character Guessing Game
How It Works:
Prepare index cards with the names of women (or men) in the Bible and a few key clues about each one. One woman draws a card and gives clues without saying the actual name. The group tries to guess who she is describing.
Example Clues:
- “I was a queen.”
- “I saved my people.”
- “My story involves fasting and courage.”
- (Answer: Esther)
Why It Works:
This game is great for reinforcing biblical knowledge and sparking deeper conversation about the lives of real women in Scripture.
2. “Praise Phrase Scramble” – Worship Lyric Game
How It Works:
Write down popular praise and worship song lyrics or titles, but scramble the words. Divide into teams. Each team has 60 seconds to unscramble the phrase and guess the song.
Example:
- Scrambled: “Heart Your Open Eyes”
- Answer: “Open the Eyes of My Heart”
Why It Works:
This is a fun and engaging way to connect over familiar songs and stir up joyful memories from worship services.
3. “Holy Handbag Hunt” – Purse Item Guessing Game
How It Works:
Before the event, ask each woman to anonymously write down the most unusual item currently in her purse. Read the list aloud and have the group guess who each item belongs to.
Example:
- “Travel-size hairspray and a mini flashlight.”
- “Dog treats and a screwdriver.”
Why It Works:
It’s lighthearted, surprising, and always full of laughs. Plus, it opens the door to storytelling and conversation.
4. “Guess That Scripture” – Fill in the Verse
How It Works:
Create a list of well-known Bible verses with key words missing. Divide the group into teams and read the partial verses aloud. Teams race to fill in the blanks correctly.
Example:
- “The Lord is my ________; I shall not want.”
- (Answer: shepherd – Psalm 23:1)
Why It Works:
It sharpens Scripture memory in a fun and competitive way, perfect for reinforcing God’s Word.
5. “Ministry Mystery Word” – Silent Clue Game
How It Works:
Write ministry-related words (like "forgiveness," "faith," "prayer," or "sisterhood") on index cards. One person sees the card and gives silent clues using gestures (like charades) while their team guesses the word in under 30 seconds.
Why It Works:
This brings lots of laughter while creatively reinforcing key concepts of faith and community.

Energize them during your fun activities for ladies' church groups!
After a big lunch or a long break, women can feel lethargic, often struggling to regain their focus and energy. This is where energizers come in! That's really what they are called.
These fun activities for ladies' church groups are designed to stimulate both the mind and body, helping to shake off that sluggish feeling. Whether it’s a brief walk, some light stretching, or quick interactive games, these energizers can dramatically improve mood and productivity.
They encourage movement, promote social interaction, and reinvigorate the spirit, transforming a potentially unproductive afternoon into a refreshing and inspired experience. By incorporating these activities into their routine, women can enhance their overall well-being and maintain high energy levels throughout the day.
In my experience as a trainer, I learned that some energizers can be a challenge for people with varied abilities. Some who cannot walk as we do or move as we do. So, I've created some variations for your activities for ladies' church groups.
All activities for ladies' church groups should be inclusive—with modifications for varied physical or visual abilities—so everyone can participate joyfully, regardless of mobility or sight. This is especially true for energizers.
1. “Pass the Praise” – Verbal Relay Game
How to Play:
Women sit or stand in a circle. One person starts by saying something she’s grateful to God for (“I praise God for peace”). The next person must repeat the praise and add her own. Continue around the circle quickly.
Variation for Inclusion:
- Visually impaired women can fully participate, as it’s verbal.
- Women with mobility concerns can remain seated.
Why It Works:
It keeps minds alert and hearts encouraged, while promoting gratitude and laughter as people try to remember and add to the chain.
2. “Stand, Sit, Snap” – Quick-Response Game
How to Play:
The leader calls out categories (e.g., “If you’ve ever led a Bible study… STAND!” “If you’re a grandma… SNAP your fingers!”). Change actions so everyone is moving or responding in some way.
Variation for Inclusion:
- Replace "stand" with “raise your hand” for those who can’t stand.
- Use verbal call-outs or clapping for those with limited mobility.
- Use large-print or color-coded signs for visual alternatives if needed.
Why It Works:
It gets the blood flowing and people laughing as they realize how much they have in common—or how unique their stories are.
3. “God’s Fruit Basket” – Movement Game
How to Play:
Assign each woman a “fruit” name (e.g., apple, banana, grape). The leader calls a fruit name, and everyone assigned that fruit switches seats. Call “Fruit Basket!” and everyone moves.
Variation for Inclusion:
- Let seated women simply raise hands or turn in place instead of switching seats.
- Visually impaired women can pair with a buddy or participate verbally.
- Offer color cards or sound cues for assistance.
Why It Works:
It builds excitement and gets people moving—even small movements—while reinforcing fellowship and joy.
4. “Holy Hustle Bingo” – Scavenger-Style Card Game
How to Play:
Each woman gets a bingo-style sheet with prompts like:
- “Find someone who prayed this morning”
- “Find someone wearing pink”
- “Find someone who’s memorized Psalm 23”
- Players mingle and mark off squares as they find matches.
Variation for Inclusion:
- Visually impaired participants can partner with a sighted friend.
- For limited mobility, encourage others to come to them.
- You can play seated with participants shouting answers in groups.
Why It Works:
It’s high-energy but not physically demanding, and it encourages joyful connection through conversation and laughter.
5. “Scripture Stomp (or Clap)” – Verse-Based Movement Game
How to Play:
The leader calls out phrases like “Romans or Psalms?” “Old Testament or New?” “Jesus or Paul?”
If the answer is “Romans,” stomp; if “Psalms,” clap. Continue with fast-paced questions.
Variation for Inclusion:
- Claps can be replaced with verbal cues or tapping.
- Participants can be seated and respond with gestures or sounds.
- For visual disabilities, have a leader call and cue the answers clearly.
Why It Works:
It creates an energizing rhythm, stirs the memory, and offers both physical and mental engagement.
Let's Remember...something!
I want these fun activities for ladies' church groups to be memory games.
When I was little, there was a show called "Soul Train," a vibrant and unforgettable program that became a staple of my Saturday mornings. It showcased the latest in soul music and dance trends, capturing the attention of a generation.
One of the most iconic elements of the show was the "Soul Train" board, where dancers would showcase their moves and embrace the spirit of fun and freedom. The atmosphere was electric, filled with colorful costumes, enthusiastic audiences, and heart-pounding music that made everyone want to get up and dance.
Rising stars often made their debut on the show, solidifying its place in the history of music and pop culture.
Well, I didn't create a Soul Train board as one of your fun activities for ladies' church groups, but I did create some memory games.
Game Name: “Match the Verse!” – A Bible Memory Showdown
Objective:
To match Scripture references with their correct Bible verses. It’s a test of memory, teamwork, and a little bit of speed!
Materials Needed:
- Index cards or printable card sets
- Markers or pens
- Buzzer (optional for added fun)
- Whiteboard or poster board for scorekeeping
- Table space or a board for displaying cards
Set-Up Instructions:
- Prepare Cards in Advance:
- Create sets of cards—one with Scripture references (e.g., Romans 8:28) and one with the corresponding verses(e.g., “And we know that all things work together for good…”). Make at least 10–15 pairs.
- Shuffle and Lay Out Cards:
- Lay all cards face-down in a grid (like a classic memory/concentration game). You can use a table, floor, or tape them to a wall.
- Form Teams or Pairs:
- Divide the group into pairs or small teams (2–4 women per team). Teams take turns flipping over two cards at a time—one reference, one verse—trying to make a match.
How to Play:
- Take Turns:
- Each team selects two cards to flip. If they make a match (correct reference and verse), they keep the pair and take another turn.
- Incorrect Match:
- If the cards do not match, flip them back over and move to the next team. Encourage the team to remember the cards for future turns!
- Add Some Spice:
- Include a few “bonus” cards with actions like:
- “Quote this verse for 1 extra point!”
- “Share a time this verse encouraged you!”
- “Sing a chorus of a worship song based on this verse!”
Winning the Game:
The team with the most matched verse pairs at the end wins! You can offer fun-themed prizes like journals, devotionals, or mugs.
Sample Verse Pair Ideas:
- Philippians 4:13 → “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
- Proverbs 3:5 → “Trust in the Lord with all your heart…”
- Psalm 23:1 → “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
- Jeremiah 29:11 → “For I know the plans I have for you…”
- Romans 12:2 → “Be not conformed to this world…”
