My knitting is inspired by the world around me wherever I am, whether that is to reflect the tones of the New England trees outside my window in a set of cushions, or to knit a rug using the colours of the ocean waves as they come ashore in Florida. The designs have a timelessness about them, just like the scenery that inspired them.

I like to use natural materials wherever I can in my work, so that when the items have finished their active life they can safely return back to the earth from whence they came. ​That always seems so important to me – for something to be not just inspired by nature but also crafted with nature in mind. 

I also have a special love of reversible stitch patterns. They are just so endlessly fascinating – the way they can be viewed from both sides and lay so beautifully flat. I find myself using them more and more for my knitting projects as time goes by. Our Reversible Knitting Stitches book includes more than 250 different double-sided stitches, and many of the knitting patterns showcased here and on my website use stitches taken from the book.
