Does it work for boats and box trailers?

Yes. The same weight rules apply to any trailer up to 4.5 tonnes.

Will this tell me my exact legal limit?

Your legal limits are the numbers on your own plates and in your owner's manual. The kit shows you where to find them and checks your real weights against them.
