Devotion: Ten Études for Electric Guitar

Étude.- (a French word meaning study), is an instrumental musical composition, associated with considerable difficulty, usually designed to provide practice material for perfecting a particular technical skill. During my career, I've studied in the classical and modern music schools, which has given me the opportunity of perceiving different facets of the teaching process of many instruments. Through my studies, I have tried to translate the language and practice of other instruments in a cohesive way for the guitar. The electric guitar, in comparison with piano or violin for example, is a very young instrument, and that's why its aesthetics and technical concepts are still in development, and have evolved dramatically since the electric guitar conception. The available repertoire for the electric guitar study is not as wide (and not as well organized in some cases), as the existing material for other instruments like piano, violin or clarinet. This book is my little contribution to the electric guitar repertoire. I hope it will be useful for anyone who wants to develop, improve, and transcend his/her technical skills. I am wishing to my readers a conveyance to the same devotion in studying it, as I felt writing it. This is also an invitation for fellow guitarists to compose for this noble instrument, creating helpful material for the upcoming students. I want to thank all my teachers and friends, but mostly, my students who were my “guinea pigs”, "test-driving" this études.
