Abstract

Cinema is sometimes called art and sometimes called the entertainment industry. Sometimes it is associated with both the art and the industry. Cinema inevitably has a business side. Now the question is whether a form of art could be used to generate profit in a business as opposed to a craft. Simultaneously, the inverse query arises: Can a business be conducted utilizing an artistic expression or, more specifically, an art form? Is art saleable? If so, can we call cinema an art? If not, is it a business commodity? Or is it so that human civilization is okay with the word ‘art industry,’ as everything seems saleable in today’s highly consumerist world? This article is an attempt to discover the nature of cinema in relation to art.
