Takbīr تكبير – screen print

The original design was inspired by a Sufi sema' I attended in Lebanon years ago, during which dervishes danced in a circle while chanting in endless repetition: Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, La ilah illa-llah…

In this composition the two circles spell out the two affirmations, and like the music and the whirling dance of the dervishes, the design circles endlessly on the paper.

The photos show an example with metal leaf added by hand. The other two options are no metal leaf, just the print on black, or illuminated with genuine gold leaf.
