QUR-LIN-003 — Qur’anic Arabic, Linguistics, Semantics, Rhetoric, Grammar and Translation Studies
Description
Focuses on rigorous linguistic investigation of the Qur’an through Classical Qur’anic Arabic, morphology (ṣarf), syntax and iʿrāb (naḥw), lexical semantics, semantic fields, pragmatics, discourse analysis, rhetoric and balāghah, grammatical structures, lexical relations, figurative language, textual cohesion, and translation studies. The theme supports research ranging from close linguistic analysis of individual words, expressions, grammatical constructions, and rhetorical devices to corpus-based and computational examination of the Qur’anic text and systematic comparison of human and AI-generated translations. The selected literature demonstrates that Qur’anic linguistic research can combine traditional Arabic analysis with modern linguistic and computational approaches: the MASAQ dataset provides expert-annotated morphological and syntactic information across the Qur’anic text, including more than 131,000 morphological entries and 123,000 syntactic-function instances, while semantic-ontology research models Qur’anic words through morphological, syntactic, and semantic relationships
