Executive Function at Work Sampler: Getting Started Level A and Data Sheet, Ages 14 to 21
This free executive function at work sampler gives students 12 near errorless cards for one key job skill: picking the first step of a task and starting it.
**Why I made this:** On her first day at a garden center, a student stood by the plants for ten minutes. She was not tired. She was waiting for someone to say "start." She knew the steps. Nobody had taught her the first one was hers to take.
**What’s included:**
• A 6 page PDF and an editable Word copy
• A teacher page with exact counts and a short plan
• 12 Level A cards from the Getting Started box, each with a job, a made up job site, a line drawn picture, 2 choices in 16 point type, and a self check code
• An answer key with mixed answer letters
• A new executive function data sheet with Level A, B, and C columns, a skill line (started on my own, finished, needed a prompt), prompt levels, and a 10 session graph
• Terms of use
**How to use it:** Print and cut the cards. Students read the job, pick the first step, and check with the code. Then act out a first step with real items. Use the data sheet to note whether the student started on their own, finished, and needed a prompt.
**Who it’s for:** High school special education teachers, 18 to 21 program teachers, job coaches, and paras working on job site independence with students ages 14 to 21.
**Format:** PDF, US Letter, 6 pages, plus an editable Word copy. Prints well in black and white.
**How this is different:** Task Analysis Data Sheets | 20 Life Skills + Job Skills Routines | Special Ed track every step of a routine. Job Site Self Monitoring Checklists + Daily Work Log | Transition + Vocational are student checklists for a whole shift. This sampler practices one executive function skill, starting a job, with its own simple data sheet.
**Pairs with:** Following Directions on the Job Task Box | Job Skills for Transition; Workplace Behavior Task Box | Job Skills Soft Skills for Transition
