Virgil the Hippogriff

Popularised in recent times thanks to their inclusion in the Harry Potter series; these unusual creatures are an older invention. While the Hippogriff is first mentioned obliquely by Virgil in the 1st Century BCE-1st Century ACE, he doe not name the beast - instead he simply describes its parentage. It is not until the 16th Century, that the beast is named as a Hippogriff in the poem Orlando Furioso by Ludovico Ariosto. Both writers describe how the Hippogriff is the offspring of a mare and griffin, that combines attributes from both.

Toy Safety

Sizing
The toys can be scaled up by knitting them in a heavier weight yarn (using the appropriate needles for that yarn weight). Please note that yardage / meterage requirements will change when altering size
