HOW TO USE YOUR WINE TASTING JOURNAL
COLLECTOR'S EDITION — DIGITAL EDITION
========================================
YOUR TWO VERSIONS
Your purchase includes two versions of this digital planner.
The portrait version is designed for phones and smaller tablets. Pages display
one at a time in a vertical format — ideal for any device you hold upright.
The landscape version is designed for large iPads and desktop screens. Pages
display in an open-book spread format with the navigation hub on the left and
your journal pages on the right — ideal for any device you use in horizontal
orientation.
Both versions contain identical content and the same navigation tabs. Choose
the one that best fits your device, or use both — one on your phone, one on
your tablet.
GETTING STARTED
Open your chosen file in your preferred PDF annotation app. The first page is
your cover. Tap anywhere on the cover to go directly to the Main Hub, which is
your home base for navigating the entire journal. From the hub you can jump to
any section instantly, or use the tabs along the top and right edge of every
page to move around without returning to the hub first.
If you prefer to start annotating right away, tap the Cellar Inventory button
on the hub and begin logging your first acquisition.
YOUR NAVIGATION TABS
Along the top of every page you will find five tabs that take you anywhere in
the journal with a single tap.
HOME takes you back to the Main Hub from wherever you are in the journal. Use
this any time you want to navigate to a different section.
HOW TO takes you to the How To Use pages at the back of the journal, where you
will find a full explanation of how to use each section and tips for getting
the most from your records.
CELLAR takes you directly to the first page of the Cellar Inventory and Aging
Tracker section, where you log every bottle or case you acquire.
TASTINGS takes you directly to the first Advanced Technical Tasting Sheet,
ready for your next tasting entry.
INVEST takes you directly to the first page of the Wine Investment and Value
Log section.
YOUR TASTING SHEET TABS
Down the right edge of every page you will find fifteen tabs labeled T1 through
T15. Each tab jumps directly to a specific group of ten tasting sheets, so you
never have to scroll through the entire section to find the right page.
T1 takes you to sheets 1 through 10. T2 takes you to sheets 11 through 20, and
so on through T15, which opens at sheet 141. Once you are in the right group,
scroll or swipe to find the exact sheet you need.
On the Main Hub, the same fifteen groups appear as a quick-access grid so you
can tap any group directly from your home page.
YOUR THREE SECTIONS
The Cellar Inventory and Aging Tracker is where you begin every time you bring
a new wine into your collection. Each page captures the essential details of
every bottle or case — producer, region, vintage, quantity, purchase price,
storage location, and your assigned drinking window. The aging tracker columns
allow you to record your notes each time you assess a bottle's readiness over
the years. This section is your living record of everything in your cellar.
The Advanced Technical Tasting Sheets are the heart of the collection. Each
sheet takes you through a complete structured assessment covering appearance,
nose, palate structure, flavor profile, and a comprehensive conclusion including
quality level, peak drinking window, and a score out of 100. Use one sheet per
bottle opened. Note the cellar inventory page number on your tasting sheet for
easy cross-referencing between the two sections.
The Wine Investment and Value Logs are for tracking the financial dimension of
your cellar. These pages allow you to record purchase price, current market
value, auction results, and projected peak value for the bottles you are
holding. Return to these logs at least once a year to update your market
valuations and monitor how your collection is performing over time.
HOW TO USE THIS JOURNAL
Record every acquisition in the Cellar Inventory section before the bottles go
into storage. This discipline becomes the foundation of everything else — your
tasting notes and investment records only gain value when they can be
cross-referenced against a complete inventory.
When you open a bottle, find its inventory entry first and note the page
number. Then open a fresh tasting sheet and record that page number at the top
so the two entries are permanently linked.
Return to your investment logs at least once a year to update market values.
The more consistently you fill in this journal, the more valuable it becomes as
a record of your collecting life over time.
This journal is designed to be used across many years and many vintages. Fill
it with the same care you give to the wines themselves.

TIPS FOR GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR PLANNER
Use the T-tabs along the right edge to jump directly to the tasting sheet group
you need. Once you are working regularly with this journal, you will naturally
remember which group holds your most recent entries — T15 for your last ten
sheets, for example — and navigation becomes instant.
Keep your cellar inventory page numbers consistent. A tasting note is far more
useful when you can trace it back to the exact inventory entry, including where
the bottle was stored and how many remain.
Use the investment logs as an annual ritual. Set a date once a year to update
your market valuations and review which bottles have appreciated, which are
approaching their peak drinking window, and which you might consider releasing.
This is the journal that great collections deserve. The more you put in, the
more it gives back.
