Get students moving while they practice integer operations with this Integer Operations Partner Activity. Students use positive and negative number cards to create problems with classmates as they practice adding, subtracting, and multiplying integers.

This activity can be used as a whole-class movement activity, partner practice, small group activity, station rotation, or independent review. Students carry a number card, meet with a classmate, record their partner’s name and number, and solve the integer operation on their recording sheet.

The number cards include positive and negative numbers from 0 to 25. You can choose which operation students practice, or rotate through adding, subtracting, and multiplying integers during different rounds. Add music as a start-and-stop signal to make the activity more engaging and structured.

The cards can also be used in several ways. Students can draw two cards from a pile, work in groups of three or more, rotate through stations, or complete multiple rounds with different operations. Print the number cards on bright paper, laminate them, and reuse them throughout your integer operations unit.
