5. CRI-THE-005 — Theory, Assumptions, Paradigms and Explanatory Adequacy
Description:
This Master Prompt would focus on critically examining the theoretical foundations and explanatory structures underlying a body of literature. It would guide researchers in identifying dominant theories, models, paradigms, mechanisms, propositions, assumptions, and causal narratives; comparing competing theoretical explanations; assessing their evidential support; identifying theoretical blind spots; and determining whether established frameworks adequately explain the available evidence.
A major emphasis would be placed on distinguishing theoretical plausibility from empirical demonstration. Frequently repeated frameworks would not automatically be treated as established merely because they dominate citations or disciplinary practice. Researchers would examine whether assumptions remain untested, whether theoretical relationships are supported directly or inferred indirectly, whether alternative explanations fit the evidence equally well or better, and whether frameworks contain redundancy, unsupported relationships, or missing constructs.
