The Cirque of Mal-Aire

“Humor them with a reality worse than their own.”

In the shadows of America, the Cirque of Mal-Aire is the world’s most elite phenomenon. But for seventeen-year-old Jade Starr, it isn't a show—it’s a cage.

For Jade, being a star gymnast was her only escape from a life of poverty. But when she’s thrust into the deadly arena of the Cirque, she discovers her physical grace hides a dangerous, elemental secret. Strictly controlled by the government and fueled by the blood of the “less fortunate,” the Cirque is an arena where the poor perform daring, deadly feats to amuse a disturbed upper class. For a Cirkie like Jade, unique abilities aren't a gift; they are a currency.

To pay her debt and buy the freedom she’s craved her entire life, Jade must survive a series of twisted trials against others just as desperate as she is. In a world where Man’s greatest tragedies are transformed into morbid satire, Jade is about to learn that the price of liberty is higher than she ever imagined.

The curtain is rising. Will Jade survive the final act?
