Kaoru are the perfect "process knitter" mitts, as they are the perfect amount of interesting but rhythmic, at the same time.  Yet, they are worked up so quickly that they are also a great "project knitter" project!  They are worked from the bottom up, with a thumb gusset.

The length of the mitts are easily adjusted by adding additional cable repeats.  The main photos are demoing the design length, as written.  A second mitt was worked up to show what they could look like longer.

24sts x 31rounds = 4” x 4” [10cm x 10cm] in 2x2 Ribbing, lightly stretched.

Sizes
S/M (L/XL)

Finished dimensions
5 (6)” [13 (15)cm] circumference, unstretched, to fit 5.5-9.5 (6.5-11.5)” [13-24 (16.5-29)cm] hand circumference
7.5” [19cm] height

The model has a 6.75” [17cm] hand circumfer-ence and wearing the smaller size. Hand circumference is measured around the lowest knuckles/around the top of the palm, not in-cluding the thumb.

The usage of ribbing throughout the entirety of the mitt allows for each size to fit a variety of hand circumferences. The amount of negative ease desired will determine which size you should choose. It is recommended to make the smaller size if your hand cir-cumference is 8” [20.5cm] or less. If you are on the fence, I’d suggest casting on for the smaller of the sizes, working up the cuff ribbing, and then trying it on to feel how comfortable that feels. Thankfully, the cuffs work up quickly, and it will give the best representation for comfort.
