Could This Be A Business?
Got a business idea, or wondering whether you could start something of your own?
Perhaps people regularly tell you that you should sell what you make, offer your skills to others or start doing something for yourself. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you feel ready to “start a business”.
Could This Be a Business? is a friendly, practical workbook designed to help you explore your idea without pressure, confusing terminology or the expectation that you already have everything worked out.
You don’t need a business name, logo, website or formal business plan. You only need an idea you are curious enough to explore.
The planner is divided into two parts:
Part One – I’m Just Curious
Begin with some light, thought-provoking exercises to help you consider:
- What skills and ideas you already have
- What other people value about you
- Whether you would actually enjoy doing it
- Who might be interested
- The smallest version you could try
- A simple seven-day test
- Whether to let the idea simmer, test it again, change it or explore it further
You can stop after Part One and still have reached a useful decision.
Part Two – Let’s Explore It Properly
If your idea still has your attention, continue into the more detailed business-planning section, covering:
- Your offer and likely customer
- The problem or need your idea addresses
- Competitors and existing alternatives
- Customer conversations and demand testing
- Available time, skills and resources
- Start-up costs and pricing
- Monthly sales and income targets
- Practical responsibilities and risks
- A 30-day evidence test
- Your start, test, adapt or pause decision
- Your first 90-day action plan
This isn’t a workbook that assumes every idea must become a business. Sometimes the right outcome is to start small. Sometimes it is to test a little more, change the idea or put it aside for now.
Every outcome is useful when it helps you make a clearer, more confident decision.
