ASIK OSTA NA TE OCI for voice & guitar by Petar Konjovic

This song is a traditional Bosnian “sevdalinka” which dates back to the 16th century during the Ottoman period, combining South Slavic oral poetry with Ottoman and Middle Eastern musical influences. The word comes from “sevdah”, which derives from the Arabic and Turkish words for "black bile" or "melancholy," evolving to mean passionate love and yearning. The song was composed by Petar Konjovic. My version is a very freely ornamented contemporary rendition of the song for voice and guitar.
