Finding the Names — Installment 88 (Roll 11, 1846) — FREE
Installment 88 of Finding the Names continues Roll 11 — New Orleans Inward Manifests, 1846–1847 (National Archives Microfilm Publication M1895, Roll 11, NAID 173892418), images 361–480: 224 people on 58 manifests, transcribed name by name from the original records at the National Archives. The project now stands at 56,492 entries.
Inside: the book opens with Eliza's Galveston certificate — the paper Installment 87 ended waiting for. Another Lucy travels with two children folded into her line, betrayed only by her certificate's count of "Three." The Vail family of nine crosses from St. Marks, down to Moses, 3 years old and 2 feet 10 inches tall. July and Hester are shipped by S. R. Mallory — the Collector of Key West himself, signing their permit in his own office. Andrew, 14, is left at Charleston "on account of Sickness," and stands here flagged with the words that left him behind. And the schooner Bell's eight are shipped by David May, who signed his oath with an X — "David X May, his mark."
This download contains the full book (PDF, 102 pages, large print) AND the complete name list for this installment as a spreadsheet (CSV) — every name as written, with ship, date, age, height, and the manifest image number, so any entry can be checked against the original scan.

Every name is transcribed by hand from the National Archives' own scans of the original manifests. Where a manifest and its certificate disagree, we print both. Nothing is guessed, and nobody is left out.
