Beyond Srija — The Complete Application Tracker
Beyond Srija — The Complete Application Tracker
Most students don't lose internships because their CV was weak. They lose them because a follow-up was due on a Thursday and nobody remembered. This is the system I built for myself: one file that holds every application, tells you what needs doing today, and quietly stops things falling through the gaps.
Why this is free
- Most of the students I made this for are already paying for coaching, certificate courses, travel to internships that don't pay, and photocopying they can't really afford. A spreadsheet that helps you keep track of your own applications shouldn't be one more thing to buy.
- Take it. Use it. If it helps, tell someone else in your batch.
What's inside — 9 tabs
- TODAY — Open it before your inbox. It reads everything you've entered and shows your next three actions, what's overdue, what's due this week, and which applications you've quietly abandoned.
- APPLICATIONS — Every application you send, from research to outcome. Organisation, route, contact, CV version, follow-up dates, status, certificate, stipend. The Alert column fills itself.
- WHERE TO APPLY — Your own directory of organisations and how each one wants to be approached, with a Last Verified column so you always know how stale a row is.
- DEADLINE CALENDAR — The recurring opportunities worth watching, and what to check for each.
- CONTACTS — People, not organisations. Who they are, why you're speaking to them, when you last wrote.
- EVIDENCE BANK — One row for every week you intern. Turns what you actually did into a CV bullet, an interview story and a LinkedIn line. This is the tab you'll thank yourself for in final year.
- YEAR PLAN — What to build, what to do now, and what genuinely isn't your problem yet — for each year, plus recovery steps if you started late.
- START HERE and YOU'VE GOT THIS — how the whole thing works, and something to read on a bad week.
How it works
Add an opportunity. Record your next action. Set a follow-up date the minute you apply. Check TODAY. That's it — the file does the remembering.
A note from me
I made this because I know what it feels like to read internship advice online and still have no idea what you're actually supposed to do on a Tuesday afternoon. As a non-NLU student I didn't have a roadmap handed to me. Most of what I learnt came from applying, being ignored, asking questions late, and slowly working out how any of it fits together.
This is the system I wish I'd had earlier.
Details
Works in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets. Formulas, dropdowns and colour alerts included. Free updates for buyers.
Not a vacancy database and not a guarantee of anything — application windows and routes change, so always check the organisation's own current page before you apply.
