The Gods We Are

Styx has spent centuries working for the Underworld.

Lethe has spent them running from it.

Once, they were two of five sister rivers who carved the Underworld from stone; ancient, powerful, and free. Then the gods came, Hades claimed their realm as his own, and the sisters became little more than pieces of his kingdom.

Now Styx has built herself a life in Paris, far from the river that once imprisoned her. But freedom comes with a price: whenever Hades demands it, she must hunt down her own sister and kill the immortal man Lethe loves.

And again.

And again.

This time, Styx makes a mistake.

A very public murder leaves Colm’s body in a Paris morgue, Lethe furious, and Hades closing in. Forced together for the first time in centuries, the sisters begin to unravel a truth far older than the gods who claimed them.

They were never Hades’ rivers.

They were never his to command.

And if Styx and Lethe want to stay free, running is no longer enough.

They’re going to have to kill a god.
