These socks are inspired by my time spent in a beachhouse in a small town in the west of France called Le-Verdon sur-mer. Taking long walks in the beautiful pine forest, breathing the fresh salty air on endless desert beaches and getting back home to knit by the fire.
The socks are knitted top-down. They start with a portion of modified ribbing, then the cable and texture pattern is worked on the front of the leg. A round heel is then worked and the pattern is continued on the top of the foot, the sole being worked in stockinette stitch. A simple wedge toe is worked at the end in stockinette stitch.
The socks are available in 3 sizes to fit a wide range of feet.
YARN Hey Mama Wolf Sockyarn #4 (Fingering: 80% Wool, 20% Ramie; 328 yards (300 m) / 100 grams): Hawthorne Light, 1 skein
NEEDLES 4 US 1.5 / 2.5 mm double pointed needles or circular needle with a 9’’ cable length or longer for magic loop, or size to obtain gauge
NOTIONS 3 stitch markers if working with circular needle, yarn needle, cable needle
GAUGE 4’’ / 10 cm = 23 stitches X 34 rounds in stockinette stitch, blocked
FINISHED DIMENSIONS Sizes S (M, L) = Circumference 9 (9.75, 10.5)’’ / 23 (25, 27) cm, Leg Length 6’’ / 15 cm, Foot Length 10.25 (10.5, 10.75)’’ / 26 (27, 27.5) cm
Ces chaussette sont inspirés des moments passés dans une maison de vacances dans le Médoc au Verdon-sur-Mer. Les longues balades dans les forêts de pins, respirer l’air frais et salé sur de longues plages désertes et rentrer à la maison pour profiter de quelques mailles au coin du feu.
Les chaussettes sont tricotées de haut en bas. Elles démarrent par une portion de côtes modifiées, puis un motif fait de torsades et texture est tricoté à l’avant de la jambe. Un talon rond est tricoté avec un gousset puis le motif est continué au dessus du pied, le reste étant tricoté en jersey. La pointe du pied est également tricotée en jersey.
Les chaussettes sont disponibles en 3 tailles pour s’adapter à un large éventail de pointures.
