Whirly Giggles Scarf

Columns of striped Garter stitch with ruffled bands of striped Stockinette.

The rapid Decrease/Increase in the ruffled 20 stitch bands causes such a steeply angled curl as to make the stripes in that section appear nearly perpendicular to those of the 5 stitch Garter columns.

Worked flat, longways.

Several tips are included to help alleviate the headaches of a long CO - Dual tails method for the longtail and repeat markers being placed during the CO.

Intermediate Skills: Increases and Decreases on both RS & WS, k, ktbl, p, p3tog, kfbf/pfbf.

No Blocking required – Recommend dry cleaning.

Measurements

7.25” (18.5 cm) Tall by 66” (168 cm) Long.

Measurements taken unblocked and relaxed.

The item is very stretchy.

Gauge

Gauge is not critical, but will affect size and yarn requirements.

Unblocked Garter Stitch – For yarn/needle selection

26 sts by 24 rows = 4” (10 cm) Square

This gauge provided for yarn and needle pairing, to swatch for appropriate fabric density without knitting the entire repeat and because of the ruffles, it is hard to accurately measure a repeat.

Note that blocking is not required, but my sample was soaked and laid flat(ish) to dry.
