[Spoken Intro — Jesus] “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not the things which I say?” [Verse 1] You walked the streets where I had taught; you ate and drank within My presence. You saw the works My Father gave Me; you heard My warning to repent. You trusted the Temple, name, and nation; you said that Abraham was your father. But covenant place without obedience could never hide an unrepentant heart. You gathered near the narrow doorway, expecting entrance by your place. When once the Master shuts the door, your nearness will not alter what I say. [Chorus] I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who work lawlessness. You called Me Lord, but would not do the will of My Father. You heard My words, but did them not, and built upon the sand. I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who work lawlessness. [Verse 2] You drew near to Me with your mouth; you honored Me with your lips. But your heart remained far from Me, and your worship became empty. You taught for doctrines the commandments of men. You made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. You appeared righteous before men, but within were hypocrisy and lawlessness. Nothing covered shall remain concealed. [Verse 3] You said, “Lord, we prophesied; we cast out devils in Your name. In Your name we did many wonderful works.” But signs did not make the tree good; your fruit revealed the hidden root. A corrupt tree cannot bring forth good fruit; your confidence could not make it true. You heard My words and praised the message, then built your house upon the sand. The rain descended, the floods arose, and great was the fall of that house. You displayed your works before the people, but I saw what your religion hid: beneath the signs and public witness, you continued working lawlessness. [Verse 4] Generation after generation you raised your steeples toward the sky. You carried crosses, books, and hymnals, then trusted men who pronounced you saved. Your creed, one prayer, and church profession became substitutes for repentance and fruit. You had a reputation for being alive, but I knew your works—you were dead. You said, “I am rich and need nothing,” not knowing your nakedness and need. You called My Father’s order bondage, gave lawlessness the name of grace, praised My love while hating correction, and preached another Jesus in My place. [Chorus] I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who work lawlessness. You called Me Lord, but would not do the will of My Father. You heard My words, but did them not, and built upon the sand. I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who work lawlessness. [Verse 5] Some carried lamps but brought no oil; the Bridegroom came, the door was shut. They cried, “Lord, Lord, open to us.” I answered, “I do not know you.” Some buried what their master gave them; their faithless works denied the servant’s claim. Some saw My hungry brethren and would not give them bread; saw the stranger and the naked, the sick, imprisoned, and oppressed. What you refused to do for one of these, you had refused to do for Me. Yet you helped the ungodly and loved those who hate Me; you strengthened the hands of evildoers, then claimed that you were serving Me. [Bridge — restrained] Yet the door is not shut before its time. “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Be zealous, therefore, and repent. Do the first works.” “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” “He who hears these sayings of Mine and does them builds upon the Rock.” “The one who comes to Me I will in no wise cast out.” Peter fell at My knees and confessed his sin. I answered him, “Fear not,” and called him to follow. [Final Verse] “My sheep hear My voice; I know them, and they follow Me.” To those upon My right hand: “Come, you blessed of My Father; inherit the Kingdom prepared for you.” But numbers cannot overturn the truth; no pulpit, wonder, title, or applause can make a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit or turn rebellion into obedience. [Final Chorus — calm and final] “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the Kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.” Many will speak of all their works. Then I will answer openly: “I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who work lawlessness.” [Spoken Outro] “I know those who are Mine. Let everyone who names My name depart from iniquity.”
