This is an integrated learning unit for grades 7 - 10 integrating language arts, creative writing, history, geography, drama, music and visual arts, while studying the wars and conflicts in which Canada has been actively involved during the past three hundred years.
There is an emphasis on using a variety of methods for research, and many of the activities are done cooperatively in groups.
The unit also contains suggestions for teaching and classroom organization, tracking sheets, suggestions for evaluation, including peer and self evaluation, excepts from novels, poetry, and ideas for teaching vocabulary development, essay writing, integrated art ideas and learning and using various literary devices.
