A story of life in and outside of family. Learn something about family-life, breaking away, being on your own and understanding about growing up.
Ten years ago, Robert Tunston, was a freshman at Wilson High... He was into sports, studies, homework, friends and girls. He was a consummate first-yearer. Then, he had 3-sisters and an older brother, at college... There was always difference with his family. Ronald his soon-to-be an Air Force-soldier brother, his oldest-sister was headed abroad to study at the Sorbonne and his mother and father who were a working class-blue collar worker and home-maker. They were a black-"Bunker" family. Everyone knew "Mac", his Dad, who had always been a hard-worker from car-wash, to grocer-worker to mechanic now owner of the midtown auto repair shop with constant business. His extended family went-on for miles. Within the 50-miles radius, there was a cousin living the average life. And all knew what the meaning of life meant. On August-days everyone was outside. In the home cook-outs, sports, travel and parties were a hallmark of as kin and command. But his-family became regular-arguers around the table. It was the generation, financial, personal and social-conflicts; Ron once admitted his choice...
Mac, was a heavy-handed parent. He idealized fatherhood, his Dad left the family for work and eventually, died in a car accident. He drank too much probably, because of the stress. He loved him and his-family, but money got in the way. He'd feared, being too proud. Mac then Maxwell, was a good-son, the second oldest... He'd swore he'd never give-up, work until his family he shared; had a normal-life... His brother was drafted by the Celtics as a forward for the '88 team. He wanted to pay-for his brother's every-need, but he accepted-nothing. After leaving, the team; he had paid-off 12 of his-cousins houses, bought and was growing-in a new good-life. Mac was proud but wary of his wealth. Enjoyed and endeavored-to be a self-made man. He felt good to be his-own man. They never forgot his Dad and they all worked-hard in many facets.
It was seeded, that his entire-family fought so hard-to succeed at... Robert, a high-school adroit was a businessman, in life. The rest were still in the shadow of his Dad, and his grand-father. His brother came home regularly, until he was over-shadowed. His sisters were independent, intimidated and infirmed to do as their Dad said. Too fearful of faulthood, fate and failure. Each never saw how fault and fate, seemed to impress and impose in pretense and propriety of as homage, hold and heart. That theme, and technical-were held and almost haunted. Mac and his family were staunch-Republicans. Strong-willed, and greatly, self-unaggrandisers... Matty, his-wife he loved, and adorned; and she accepted deeply, her-family. Just as Mac worked, she was his "home-fire". She was a homemaker, with an associate in premed. Secretly, she was Mac's under-the-radar assistant, director and meal-maker...
...Mac, always wanted a PBJ, fried-salami sandwich and glass of Orange juice... He went to work exactly; leaving at 6:08 am to sweep his parking-lot, check utilities and make sure everything was correct... The sun-shined in June-on his East facing lot... It shown West on his lift-car, then the wall and by opening-it glowed over the lot. The out street-flowed with cars back and forth by and passed the traffic-light, at the mostly, empty cross-walk.
Ron had been Rob's big-brother all his-life. He even took him to his first public-play area. He was so good that he allowed his ambitions run-wild. His Dad didn't really, understand kids. His Mom knew him as her baby-boy but she had only so much time, with Mac, her other-children and other events. She was the block committe-woman, Church scheduler and family duty-master... Duty and determination of the active-family were led by Mac's knowing and approval...
He knew everything that went-on. Ron, had only certain girlfriends, could only have so many kinds of friends, and desire only so much selfish-ideas. He knew what liberalism was-to you... What was important, impeccable and impart to one's self and image. Ron wanted out, but only told his Mom... The girls were only interested in being Mommy and Daddy-pleasers. They had few-friends and only wanted Dad's wishes, so years went by; without incidents or incurrings. From '98 to '08, everyone grew up. But Rob was asked to go to a business out-of town. He still loved his Dad and family but he'd wanted his-own life. He knew how his Dad was, for all his-life. He adored and admired his Mom, but that life was all-it was...
Before things were restricted and held-back, all the fun things were just in-captions of others. There were few and far-between. Everyone grew-up, parents grew-older and things-changed. Mac's station shop grew to 4-satellite shops all-over the area. Rob once a home-body tiring about everything, but things-transitioned. Channelled, challenged and transacted for everything in life. At 21, he decided to move-out. They now lived in a 12-room house. He drove a premium Cadillac Escalade, bought a sports car for driving on weekends. His daughter lived in a Condo up the state and some of his cousins worked the night-shift, an over-night staff at his-shops.
He left home after an argument with his Dad. They had everything a heart could want. But Rob wanted more. Love and limits went only so far. He'd seen his best years become a solitude and sequester of infirm and fate... The anxiety and angst become a way of availance. He became idolized of what little he'd seen. His family were eventually, either instilled or restricted. It was new neighborhood. Fate, was fathomless. Eventually, with time personage dissolved and love became a lament. No one was really, happy, hopeful and homaged; and a harboring-became distinctively, prohibitive. There was little-balance but balast, about many of all things and in intrinsics, implications and instillings-reines; fervored and faded. ...Grand and gradual-vied, evaded and evinced as-purpose and practicality. Rob remembered much that though, principled and protagonic, proved-profound and a proflagration.
Rob, like Mac; understood energy now-days, over every new action and through-all devised-contentions. But dependence, and dispose; and dominated, and demonized by everything... The house became a creature of enclosure, were many things was a life long-censured and as a devotion; and a dedication-was more a-chore. Everyone was in an underlying, unfruitive-culmination; of as a charge and character. So daily-dimensions and designs, fated and redefined; and as demands, and deferment... As a plurality, pretense and precipitation through-out. ...Objective-overture, and opting. Affinity and enterprise were proprietary-proven and as powers.
There-was more. So he decided-to make plans to leave. He was his own man, proctored and obligated on his own. And his Dad never noticed. He had a large-bedroom, till-now. A private bath, a car-in the 4 car garage. A golf membership, and other-things. Mac was now able to eat-lobster, BBQ, Filet Mignon, and turkey-roast; every week.. They could buy-pizza from Cici's, gourmet-pizzaria. He had jewelry, sported and had a $60,000-line of credit. But life was still a bedlam. ...When they all-ate Spaghetti and French bread. Though they were basic, it meant hope--in appeasement. Joys once lived, had turned into pride and privilege. Honor, had grown into a white elephant in the room... He could only hope for himself, and Rob thought that was an empty-feeling.
Rob-was ultimately, an individual. Which meant, more. He was looking far off over the horizon. Life beyond seemed more stranger and unatoning, without others... He came to realized-it was his-fate which they all had. He become a great student, he performed-well and though his home-life was limited; he watched others, when he had the chance... Though, kept as a-secret... Those freer, fortunate and fostering-realities; grew and progressed. His Mom whom watched over all her-children, knew he was growing-up and away.
He, like she-understood; life was beyond not-within. Telling their-Dad, they needed their own-place in life. And he was so confirmed, he tried to forget-everyone... He was impressed, that she knew he was going to live a better life. And fear and formitude, were only a question and self-promotive. He was strong-willed insightful, intentional and empathic. So he had his own journeys to take. She'd been in all their corners, but someone had to see-it was not their-dream and hope. 195-pounds, 6'3", healthy talented, and a good heart and a very-articulate mind; with good-perception had a voyage to fulfill.
As he began stepping away, he slowly sought his own place in the world. Once a boy of engender and encounter, was now affixed and faceted. So his gears shift, leaving the past-threw... ...Maltese Business firm, a New Jersey based industrial was to have his position open next-month. He'd met with the executive to take a new and upcoming associate logistics manager... He had to get settled in, and find a place in Suffolk City; the hub site. He'd impressed all the hiring team. He was to back-up large customer endeavors, on both the coasts and around-the-world...
...The hope and heart of others were as his alone-verifying and versifying, of to as holds and habits... He was fully-capable and competent plunging by incentive, invention and involvement. It was his integral and idea-inclinations to be versed and validating... A world apart from familial-penultance, and provality. It was intent and instincts, which were active and innate. ...With a degree-at Cornell during college years, a 3.73 gpa and a speciality for logistics and liturgical-controls. It was as the commands and caveats of self-convocation, and conviction. His Dad, he was a visionary, but how he had to go-it alone.
Mac, didn't take it well... When he announced it at dinner one night in October. Then, everyone was readying for Thanksgiving. He wanted to be kind. But everyone watched in silence. Mac, sat stunned as he said exactly, what he wanted to do. Mac, went-on a rampage he walked-out and saying, he could leave. Rob packed his bags and left. He had his own car, his funds were made by stipend from work locally, he'd done; and he now scheduled the over-night flight-out of O'Hare.
Rob, was the youngest boy, so he was already-eaten and sufficed. With what his Dad expected. He tried to tell him so often to allow him his own way of thinking. He'd many times afforded and underscored in duty, and development. But bases and bestowal, were done and bared beneficence. That if anything his Dad opened his mind to theory, and structure. Which everyone knew he was a great sounding-board. But he understand and strided to interplay and convey with somewhat little success. Everything he's Dad did he'd resign over. His Dad was a reflection of him when his Dad left for selfish reasons... He knew he was not his Dad, as he did. They met at the airport, because Mac didn't want to be in a plan to remember sadly... His Dad was dressed in a casual white-shirt slacks are expensive pair of sneakers and a black leather jacket with a brown-leather Golfer's Cup.
