Introducing 'How to write a successful STP application'! 🌟 Over the last 6 months we have spent countless hours pooling together our best STP application advice from over 15 different successful applicants to help you write that perfect application!

With over 8000 STP applications expected this year for around 400 STP places there has never been a more important time to make sure your application truly reflects all your best skills, highlights your passions and lets the markers know that you would be an excellent healthcare scientist.

During our own application processes, we were all so passionate about getting onto our chosen specialisms but found there were not many resources online regarding how to structure the perfect application. The scientific and transferable skills seemed quite confusing and many hours were spent thinking of how we could use our experience to align with those skills required. There were no examples of essays online so our only resources were friends who were also applying or conversations found deep on student room…. Many will relate to this struggle!

With that being said our guide will cover the following advice:

  • Top tips for a perfect standout application
  • Detailed explanation of each scientific and transferable skill
  • Examples of each scientific and transferable skills
  • How to incorporate NHS values into your essay
  • Example of a successful STP essay
  • How to link your examples to your chosen specialism

We really hope that many of you applying to the STP this year will find this guide useful and be able to apply what you have learned to craft your own perfect essay which truly showcases your brilliant skillset.

As a large number of you will be applying as undergrads (and the current cost of living crisis…) we have kept the cost as low as possible so it is accessible to as many people as possible whilst also reflecting the time spent creating this.
