5. INT-ETH-005 — Research Ethics, Informed Consent, Rapport, Reflexivity, Cultural Sensitivity and Participant Protection
Description
This Master Prompt focuses on the ethical, relational, reflexive and participant-protection dimensions of interview research across the complete research lifecycle. It treats research ethics as an ongoing methodological responsibility extending from study design, recruitment and informed consent through the interview encounter, recording, data management, analysis, interpretation, quotation, dissemination and eventual data retention or destruction. Researchers are guided to address voluntary participation, informed and ongoing consent, privacy, confidentiality, anonymity, withdrawal, sensitive disclosures, emotional distress, vulnerable or potentially distressed participants, researcher safety, data protection, power relationships and the ethical consequences of face-to-face, online, recorded and technology-mediated interviewing.
