About Me - Pamela Toussaint Howard, Five-time published Author, Editor
Pamela Toussaint Howard is a native New Yorker who currently lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia. She developed a love for the written word and the confidence to become a writer from her dad, a printing plant supervisor at The American Banker. At home, his habit was to correct errors he found while reading The New York Times—with a bright red pen. Pamela earned a degree in journalism from Fordham University and won a coveted summer internship at Essence magazine as a junior. She went on to become their associate lifestyle editor and voiceover artist. Subsequently, she worked as a trade newspaper reporter, media spokeswoman and author and coauthor of five books with major publishers, including four with Penguin Random House! She currently loves writing daily inspirations for Guideposts publications. Pamela is passionate about helping others tell their stories with excellence and get paid to publish.
Whether you're completing your first draft or preparing your manuscript for agents, publishers, or self-publication, my professional editing will help transform a promising idea into a compelling, polished book! With more than 20 years of editorial experience and four books published with Random House, I help authors strengthen their manuscripts, clarify their message, and communicate more effectively with readers. Choose from:
Developmental (Content) Editing - $1000 for first 50 pages ($20 per page)
Best for first drafts and early-stage manuscripts, developmental editing focuses on the big picture. Together, we'll evaluate structure, organization, pacing, content flow, voice and overall effectiveness. You'll receive detailed feedback and recommendations to help you build a stronger manuscript before investing in line-by-line editing.
Choose Developmental Editing if:
- You've completed a first draft
- You're unsure what's working and what isn't
- You need help organizing or strengthening your content
- You want professional guidance before querying agents or publishers
Line Editing - $1500 for 50 pages ($30 per page)
Best for manuscripts that already have a solid structure and shape. Line editing focuses on improving clarity, flow, readability, word choice, tone, and sentence effectiveness. The goal is to ensure your manuscript reads smoothly, engages readers, and presents your ideas with professionalism and impact.
Choose Line Editing if:
- You've revised multiple drafts
- You're preparing to submit to agents or publishers
- You want your writing to be as polished and professional as possible right now!
