The Default Setting begins with the choices we barely notice making: the pre-checked box, the accepted terms, the button pressed simply to reach the next screen. From there, the metaphor widens into a life shaped by inherited beliefs, familiar paths, old assumptions, and decisions made so long ago they have come to feel like identity. The question is not simply what was chosen for us, but whether we have ever opened the settings ourselves.
