Julius Caesar - Betrayal

Julius Caesar was betrayed by a group of senators, including his friend Marcus Junius Brutus, who feared his growing power and believed he would become a tyrant. Led by Cassius and Brutus, over sixty conspirators orchestrated the assassination, stabbing Caesar 23 times on the Ides of March, March 15, 44 BC. Despite Caesar pardoning many of them, they saw his consolidation of power as a threat to the Roman Republic and felt their act was one of patriotism
