Nurturing Futures, encourages the positive influence that parents can have on the psychological health and emotional well-being and futures of their children. Rooted in ecological theories of child development, Nurturing Futures imbues parents with a fresh understanding of the developmental needs of children; the developmental tasks and transitions of childhood; the common transactions and interactions between children, their parents and the world, as experienced and described by children; and the roles of parents in the adventure of childhood.

Nurturing Futures, departs from singular focus on problem behaviours in children. It emphasises the potential of parents and the resources and assets in families that influence children’s emotional health, development, behaviour and future, particularly at key stages in children’s lives.

As children were involved in influencing the content and central messages of Nurturing Futures, the resource, uniquely and explicitly reflects the interests, views and experiences of children.
