Who says knitting is only for Winter? This draped, open-front coverup is perfect for warmer weather, with its linen-blend yarn and airy design. A woven texture is formed through a simple slip stitch pattern, creating a relaxed, boho-inspired aesthetic; this, combined with the mosaic colourwork dispersed throughout, ensures an interesting, motivating knit and a beautiful, versatile finished garment.
Sand and Sunsets features an unusual construction: it is worked sideways, across from the right-hand sleeve to the left. The sleeves are each knit in the round, and the main body is knit flat, but all in one piece, to minimise the need for seaming. A horizontal, decorative waistband is added to the bottom of the garment, which can be customised to the individual’s preferred finished length and style. There are also opportunities to customise body and sleeve lengths within the pattern instructions to help you achieve your ideal fit.
Yarn
The sample is knitted using Stylecraft Linen Drape in Natural (Main Colour) and Corn (Contrast Colour 1). Scheepjes Linen Soft in 632 (Black) is used for Contrast Colour 2.
It is recommended that you select a yarn suitable for more summery garments, such as a linen blend or cotton DK weight yarn.
Yardage
It is difficult to give exact yardage information due to the customisable nature of the pattern instructions. Instead, the yardage below gives maximum yardage for each chest size, based on a knitter selecting the longest lengths of sleeves and body. If you opt for shorter sleeves or body lengths, your yardage will inevitably be less.

Working with 4mm / US size 6 needles, in the linen
stitch pattern, a gauge of 25 sts over 48 rows/rnds
makes 4x4”.
Working with 3.5mm / US size 4 needles, following the mosaic colourwork charts, a gauge of 24 sts over 48 rows/rnds makes 4x4”.

Sand and Sunsets is available in four chest sizes. (As a reference, the sample shown is Regular fit, M-L size with the tapered waistband. The wearer is chest size 38” and 5’10” in height.)

To Fit Actual Chest Size 28-34” (36-42”:44-50”: 52-58”)
Regular Chest Circumference* 43” (53”: 59.5”: 68.5”)
Upper Arm Circumference 13.25” (15.25”: 18.5”: 22.75”)
There is also an option to create a petite size which reduces chest and waist circumferences by 2”.
