This is a beautifully “drapy” shawl which is knit from the bottom up. It’s slightly curved shape is achieved through short rows in the stockinette section.

After finishing, the top curls downward slightly to create a rolled neckline.

If you want to make a warm shawl or just a light summer stole, just find the right yarn and off you go!!

Yarn: 800m of anything from fingering to lace weight (100g/600m).

Needles & Notions: 4mm/US6 (5mm/US8 optional), Stitch Markers (optional)

Don’t be afraid to experiment with your yarn and needles! I knit the lace weight version in larger needles than the fingering and loved the effect!

Gauge & Size: With the 5mm needles and Laceweight yarn I had a shawl sized 200cm X 60cm

Pattern: The short row section is worked in German Short Rows with a clear written description on to knit these. The bottom lace border is worked from colour-coded charts.

The Downloaded pattern contains 6 A4 pages with photos, charts and detailed instructions.

The name of the shawl doesn’t necessarily mean that the lace has to sit in your lap!! I called it after the one area of Maths that I could never get my head around The Laplace Transform - and decided to “transform” Laplace into something beautiful!!!

This pattern is available in both English and German.
