The Ambassador's Staff

Rachel Thompson is a small-time private investigator in the bustling spaceport of Cape City. When a kid from the Crops finds the Martian Ambassador's staff, broken and abandoned, in the poorest streets of the city, he brings it to Rachel. Maybe there's a reward, but people from the Crops avoid the police. Especially when the tri-V news stories say the visiting Ambassador died in his sleep, in his hotel. Something's not adding up, and in the drug-riddled streets of Cape City, Rachel's going to find out why--or die trying.
