The Complementarian Discovery Work-Flow & Overview Handout
Where does your church land on women in leadership?
I built this after writing about, discussing, and reflecting on the complementarian spectrum for the better part of a year, hearing from pastor after pastor who needed more than an article. They needed something they could sit down with to determine their own convictions, then work through with their board.
The Complementarian Discovery Work-Flow is a guided process that sorts your church into one of six positions, Egalitarian, Hard, Soft, Mutualist, Functional, or Neo-Complementarian, based on your theological interpretation and current practice, not just what sounds right on paper.
What's inside:
- A Foundational Convictions Checklist: five questions that get at the theology underneath every position
- The Discovery Flow: a short, branching path that sorts your church into one of six positions
- Six full position profiles with Scripture, definitions, and what each looks like in practice
- A Spectrum at a Glance chart for a quick overview
- A Board Discussion Guide to bring the conversation to your elders or deacons
- A Turning Conviction into Practice section covering job descriptions, bylaws, and how to teach it to your congregation
Faithful, Bible-believing pastors land in different places here. This workflow won't tell you what to believe, but it will help you see where you already stand.
Bonus: also included is the Complementarian Spectrum Overview, a one-page chart for your board or leadership team discussions.
