How about some bee booties for busy, buzzy babies?
These are intermediate difficulty; they are knitted flat with a simple seam. The wings are knitted in to minimize finishing.
Use fingering weight yarn and 2.25mm needles to make Extra Small (0-3 months) & Small (3-6 months) sizes, and use sport weight yarn and 2.75mm needles to make Medium (6-9 months) & Large (9-12 months) sizes.
Gauge is not critical, but it will affect the finished size of the booties. You are aiming for a fairly dense, rather than a loose, knitted fabric.
Fingering weight: approx. 32 - 34 sts = 4”
Sport weight: approx. 26 – 28 sts = 4”
