Blockchain Beyond Bitcoin
Blockchain Beyond Bitcoin is the first title in the Digital Future Series, and Book 7 in Eyn's complete educational library.
Building on the Crypto Foundation Series, this volume explores how blockchain has evolved from a speculative asset class into institutional infrastructure — covering tokenisation, decentralised identity, DAOs, supply chains, sustainability, and interoperability, grounded throughout in real case studies and their lessons, including the failures.
This volume assumes a reader who already knows the fundamentals: how Bitcoin works, the
cypherpunk ideas that inspired it, the long roster of altcoins it spawned, and the basic mechanics of
Ethereum and smart contracts. Those subjects, covered in earlier volumes, were the foundation. This
book is about what gets built on that foundation.
Over the past several years, blockchain has quietly migrated from a speculative asset class into
something closer to infrastructure: a settlement layer for institutional money, a registry for real-world
assets, an identity system, a coordination mechanism for organisations, and increasingly, a trust layer
for machines and software agents that transact without a human in the loop.
This book is organised around ten such problem areas, from infrastructure and smart contracts to
sustainability, interoperability, and the next decade of policy. Each chapter pairs a clear-eyed
explanation of the technology with real case studies, including the failures, because the failures are
often more instructive than the successes.
The goal is not evangelism. It is a sober map of where blockchain technology has earned a durable
place in the digital economy, where it is still proving itself, and where the hype has outrun the
substance.
