A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR
When contrast becomes a signature
Some editorials capture our attention because of a particular image. Others stay with us because of the vision behind them.
When I discovered Yuliia Nowak’s photographic series, I was immediately drawn to its visual identity. The contrast between masculine tailoring and feminine elegance, set against the architecture of the city, offered something I wanted to explore further through L’@rtikle.
What interested me was not simply the styling, but the confidence with which the different elements came together. A structured jacket, a white shirt and a tie meet the femininity of a mini skirt, sheer tights and heels. Nothing feels out of place. Instead, each element contributes to a look that challenges conventional expectations without sacrificing sophistication.
The urban setting adds another dimension. Glass, steel, wood and concrete become part of the composition, creating a dialogue between the precision of architecture and the individuality of personal style. The alternation between colour and black-and-white photography further reveals the versatility of the series.
For me, this is what makes fashion editorials compelling: the ability to communicate an idea through clothing, photography and attitude. Beyond the garments themselves, there is a perspective worth discovering.
With The Beauty of Contradiction, Yuliia Nowak invites us to consider fashion as a form of self-expression, one that leaves room for different sides of our personality to coexist.
I am pleased to bring this work to L’@rtikle and invite you to discover an editorial that reminds us that style does not need to follow a single definition to make a lasting impression.
