A Failure Files Novella set in the Omega Protocol world
Before Omega Zero, before Still House, before freedom had a name, HVC called him Subject O-00. Zero was supposed to be contained, suppressed, studied, and corrected.
A lab omega with unstable heat markers, a smart mouth, and a refusal response HVC couldn’t quite beat out of him. They should have tried harder, because Zero is tired of white walls, restraints, and being measured by people who mistake cruelty for science and obedience for success. Every procedure teaches him something. Every handler gives away a pattern. Every locked door makes one terrible mistake.
It assumes Zero is waiting to be rescued. He isn’t. He is watching, learning, bleeding, and laughing at the wrong moments because if HVC wants a broken omega, they’re going to have to survive what crawls out of the pieces.
The suppressants are failing.
The cameras are blinking.
The room is starting to feel less like a cage and more like a dare, and HVC is about to learn why some subjects should never be given enough time to memorize the locks.
Containment Failure is a short, violently dark prequel novella set in the Omega Protocol world. This story takes place before Omega Zero and reveals part of Zero’s HVC backstory before Colt, before Still House, and before freedom had a name.
