Extracting Colors from natural creatons
Science isn’t just test tubes and safety
goggles—it is the smell of crushed mint, the stain of a berry, and the oil
inside an orange peel! We are going to build a Kitchen Apothecary using
tools you already have. Get a piece of wax paper, parchment, or aluminum
foil. Grab a rolling pin, a smooth stone, or the heavy end of a wooden
spoon and a bowl.
Go outside or raid the fridge for dry herbs, fresh grass, berries, and
fruit skins (like red apple peels or orange rinds). We are going to extract
natural colors and mix our own botanical blends, letting the science grow
as they grow!
