Residential Attic Storage & Headroom Planner Pro
Residential Attic Storage & Headroom Planner Pro v1.0
Explore attic storage layouts and visualize available headroom directly inside AutoCAD.
Residential Attic Storage & Headroom Planner Pro combines an AutoLISP program with a matching DCL interface to help you arrange storage, reserve access spaces, identify ceiling conflicts, and generate schematic plans and sections.
Features include:
- Model a rectangular attic with two straight ceiling slopes, unequal edge heights, and an offset ridge
- Set custom working and low-headroom thresholds
- Calculate gross floor footprint, clear-profile volume, and headroom-zone areas
- Estimate unoccupied headroom footprints without subtracting overlapping boxes twice
- Manage up to 100 editable storage, obstruction, and access-reserve modules
- Choose from seven illustrative presets: storage bins, low cabinets, shelving, obstruction boxes, hatch reserves, protected corridors, and custom storage
- Customize module dimensions, location, base height, and requested ceiling clearance
- Flag floor-boundary conflicts, insufficient ceiling clearance, overlapping boxes, and blocked access reserves
- Generate labeled attic plans, a transverse section at your chosen location, and a longitudinal section along the ridge
- Export module schedules, calculated top gaps, notes, and analysis results to CSV
- Save and reopen project layouts
- Output drawing geometry in inches, feet, millimeters, or meters
Your download includes:
- AutoLISP program
- Matching DCL interface
- Installation and usage instructions
- Example project and DXF drawing
- Example module schedule and analysis report
- Validation notes

Important information:
This is a preliminary geometry and storage-layout tool. The clear ceiling profile remains constant along the attic length. Presets and headroom thresholds are illustrative planning values, not approved construction dimensions or code-defined floor-area rules.
The program does not determine joist or truss capacity, allowable storage loading, safe stair or ladder access, habitable-space approval, or fire and egress compliance. Access reserves are rectangular planning volumes and do not prove continuous safe circulation. Verify field dimensions, structural suitability, and applicable project requirements independently.
Built with an AutoCAD 2002-oriented foundation for Windows AutoCAD environments supporting AutoLISP, DCL, and Visual LISP/ActiveX. Core checks passed using a test interpreter; native AutoCAD operation has not yet been verified. Product artwork is illustrative, and the DCL image is a concept preview.
